A clamp power strip can have enough sockets on paper and still be awkward after large adapters, USB cables and the desk's own hardware are added. This guide is about connection planning rather than installation: map plug width, outlet position, USB demand and cord direction before loading the strip. The example model shown here has nine AC outlets, one USB-C port and three USB-A ports.
Map the nine AC outlets before connecting devices
The product media shows AC receptacles on more than one face of the 6.72 x 1.89 x 1.89 inch body. That layout can separate bulky adapters instead of forcing every plug into one row. The front outlet spacing is labeled at 1.38 inches, but plug bodies vary, so measure the adapter itself rather than assuming every neighboring receptacle will remain usable.
Make a short device list and mark each AC plug as standard, right-angle or oversized. Put the widest adapters on different faces or at positions where their bodies can extend away from neighboring outlets. Leave space around any adapter that needs ventilation, and avoid creating sharp cable bends simply to reach an open receptacle.

Separate USB port count from USB power

Do not assume that a laptop, tablet or other equipment with a USB-C socket can be fully powered by this port. A device that requires a higher-wattage USB-C Power Delivery adapter should continue to use the charger specified by its manufacturer. For a mixed setup, give the USB-C position to the compatible device that benefits most from it, then use the three USB-A ports for lower-demand accessories. A joule figure is a documented product specification, not a guarantee against every voltage event and not a substitute for correct grounding, suitable wiring or location-specific protection. Avoid turning the number into a broader safety promise that the product label does not make.
Plan the six-foot cord and flat plug
The attached cord is labeled at 6 feet and uses a 45-degree flat plug. Before assigning outlet positions, trace the complete route from the clamp location to the wall receptacle. The cord should reach without becoming a trip line, rubbing a sharp edge or passing through moving furniture.
